Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much time prior to the wedding ceremony should we book it?

If you are planning an official wedding ceremony, the booking must be done at least a month before the wedding and the required documents must be submitted to the registry not later than 21 calendar days prior to the ceremony.
For a symbolic wedding or vows renewal, there are no restrictions, you can book it a week before the event. You will just have to choose an available date of your favorite venue.

2. What are the types of wedding ceremonies?

A wedding could be:
Official Civil Wedding- with the issue of a certificate of marriage registration, which is valid in Russia,
Symbolic - a beautiful ceremony for a couple who are already married or decided to arrange a "rehearsal" for a future wedding,
Orthodox Wedding - church marriage; not valid in Russia.

3. What a symbolic ceremony is and why do it?

4. What is an official civil wedding? Is the marriage certificate issued in Greece valid?

The official civil wedding is a wedding ceremony with the issue of an official marriage certificate, valid in all countries of the world, including Russia.

Following the registration, within a month, the mayor's office issues a marriage certificate in Greek, which is subsequently translated into Russian / Ukrainian, legalized and sent to the appropriate branch of our company. Newlyweds can get the certificate from the office where their wedding was arranged. The document must be registered at their local registry office too.

5. What is the Apostille and where do I get it from?

The Apostille is an international standardized form of filling out information on the legality of a document for presentation on the territory of countries recognizing such a form of legalization. The "apostille" stamp is placed only on original documents issued by state authorities (in some cases, notarized copies).

You can get an Apostille stamp on the following organizations:

The Federal Archival Agency of Russia (Registry) - apostille on archival certificates, archival extracts and copies of archival documents prepared by the federal state archives;
Departments of the Civil Registry Office put Apostille on official documents on state registration of acts of civil status.

6. Can I hold a wedding only at a hotel or can I plan it on the beach or at another venue?

Of course, we can organize your ceremony on the beach, at a church, in the mountains or at other venues - the choice is yours!

7. Who will hold the ceremony?

If this is an official civil wedding ceremony, then it is personally conducted by the mayor or his representative. Symbolic weddings are held by a wedding celebrant, the master of the ceremony.

13. If the Orthodox wedding ceremony is in Greek, how will we understand the service?

Before an Orthodox wedding, the couple must meet with the priest who will marry them, with the assistance of an interpreter. An Orthodox Wedding is a very important event and they should be well prepared for it. We recommend that you studied the specifics of the sacrament before coming to Greece, and received the advice and blessing of your spiritual mentor who is always willing to discuss about the ceremony of an Orthodox wedding.
